Plex unavailable after using upgradePlex

Hello,

I used upgradePlex for updating my plex; but now Plex is on error 503 unavailable.
On dashboard, Plex is on red in « Service statut ».
I try to fix it with Terminal and command service plexmediaserver restart but it’s doesn’t work.
I try too use ssh tunel but not work too.
Any idea ?

Use sudo systemctl restart plexmediaserver to restart plex

Thanks.

Please check :

  • if the plex user exists : sudo cat /etc/shadow | grep plex (should returns plex)
  • if plex “Library” directory exists : ls /var/lib/plexmediaserver/ (should returns Library)
  • if Plex folders have the right permissions : ls -al "/var/lib/plexmediaserver/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server" (shoud be owned by plex user)
  • if Plex binaries exists : ls /usr/lib/plexmediaserver/ (shoud returns many plex files)

Weird.

It seems you have the required Plex files.
Maybe a permissions issue, could you try :

  • sudo chown -R plex:plex /var/lib/plexmediaserver
  • sudo chmod -R 755 /var/lib/plexmediaserver
  • sudo systemctl restart plexmediaserver.service
  • sudo systemctl status plexmediaserver.service

If that not work, maybe you will need to remove and reinstall PMS…

Hi,

[arck0s@KS4-C]:(0b)~$ sudo chown -R plex:plex /var/lib/plexmediaserver
[arck0s@KS4-C]:(0b)~$ sudo chmod -R /var/lib/plexmediaserver
chmod: missing operand after ‘/var/lib/plexmediaserver’
Try ‘chmod --help’ for more information.
