You mean during the NextCloud web configuration?
Database user: nextcloud
Database password <= that you set during the box install nextcloud
Database name: nextcloud

Yes that’s what i did but it does not work …
Ubuntu ? Debian ? Which version ?
I installed it with Ubuntu 16.04 without any issue.
Check if the database is created with :
mysql -u root -p
show databases;
